Hey everyone, when my family and I took a trip to New York City last month, one of the things I was most excited about was checking out the latest in VR gaming. So when I found out about Extreme Video Game Zone, a Long Island and NYC-based gaming company with VR options, I knew I had to drag my wife and kids to try it out.
In this post, I’ll be giving you guys the full scoop on Extreme Video Game Zone – what they offer, my family’s experience using their services, and the pros and cons of gaming with them during our NYC vacation. Buckle up for a wild ride into the virtual worlds of Extreme Video Game Zone!
The Company
Extreme Video Game Zone provides awesome gaming options like video game trucks, online gaming rooms, and mobile VR setups for events of all sizes in the Long Island and NYC area. They bring the video games and tech to you with their fleet of tricked-out trucks and portable equipment.
The company is based out of Hewlett, NY, just outside NYC on Long Island. They service the whole tri-state area, bringing epic gaming parties as close as Long Island or as far as NYC.
Extreme Video Game Zone offers comfortable, climate-controlled environments tailored to your event’s needs. For example, they have both indoor and outdoor playable spaces available. Pretty neat, right?
I was seriously impressed by the vast variety of services and customization options they provide. You can create gaming experiences ranging from intimately small gatherings to blowout bashes, packing in over 28 players at once!
First Impressions
When I first stepped inside one of Extreme Video Game Zone’s signature video game trucks, I knew we were in for an awesome time. These things are PIMPED OUT!
I’m talking fully air-conditioned interiors, neon mood lighting, surround sound systems, flat screens EVERYWHERE, and comfy seats all around. Oh, and did I mention that they’re also completely self-powered via a silent built-in generator? So convenient!
Meanwhile, the kids were freaking out, running around checking out the available games and consoles. John made a beeline right for the Xbox station and started setting up a round of Fortnite with some other kids. Jenette gathered a group of her new girlfriends to play a dancing game on the Nintendo Switch.
I barely got out a word about their awesome neon lights and surround sound setup before Patty was challenging other parents to a round of Mario Kart. That got ME excited, lol, so I quickly joined in on the tournament!
Game Options
One thing that really impressed me about Extreme Video Game Zone was the sheer variety and volume of games they have available. I’m talking all the hottest new releases across multiple major platforms – they’ve got it all!
In terms of consoles, they rock the latest PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and even specialty VR rigs. No matter what system you prefer to game on, they have you covered.
Their game library is STACKED with all the most popular titles across a wide span of genres and ratings. Wanna shoot aliens on Halo or Ollie tre flips in Skate 4? Go for it! Feel like getting groovy with dance games or creative with Minecraft? You do you! With hundreds of options ranging from family-friendly to more intense “teen” rated games, people of all ages can get their game on.
I noticed Fortnite was easily the biggest hit of the day, which makes total sense, given the crowd. But there were also lots of smaller hubs formed around niche titles that attracted their own little fan circles. Pretty cool dynamic!
Extreme Video Game Zone also offers online gaming and hooks up events with hot titles like Fortnite. For an extra fee, they’ll set up the console, register accounts, and handle logistics so you can squad up and play online seamlessly with your crew. Def a great option for the social gaming crowds out there.
Our Experience
Let me tell ya – my family had an absolute BLAST gaming with Extreme Video Game Zone during our NYC trip! We ended up booking them for a 3-hour session, which let all four of us tap into our favorite games and virtually hang with other gamers too.
After the initial first few rounds of Mario Kart and Fortnite squad battles, we experimented with other consoles and titles. Patty surprised us by schooling the competition in Call of Duty on PlayStation. Who knew she was such a beast with FPS games?!
Of course, John stuck to his Xbox and kept slaying on Halo and NBA 2K24 with his new buds. My daughter Jenette gathered a huge group of girls to dance battle on Just Dance 2024. Their song list was crazy on point – it even included the latest hits from Jenette’s favorite K-pop groups!
As for me, I geeked out trying all the new VR games in their collection. I battled hellish demons in Doom: Inferno and used my IRL sweat to cast fire spells, took a trippy walk across skyscrapers in Vertigo Heights, and even piloted a real-looking MechWarrior suit! The graphics and immersion were INSANE…I probably could have stayed in there the whole time, lol.
Eventually, we regrouped as a family to compete in a round of Nintendo’s new hit augmented reality platformer Mario Mashup. Our whole family was literally leaping over virtual obstacles and throwing virtual fireballs at each other – so much silly fun! That last memory of us laughing and running around their truck space playing as a family was the perfect way to end our epic gaming session.
I especially want to shout out our Game Coach, Lenny, who ran the event. He made sure everything ran smoothly, offered great game recommendations, and even took a cute pic of us in the truck to memorialize the day! Overall the Extreme Video Game Zone staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, and enhanced the whole experience.
The Verdict
At the end of our 3-hour VR gaming marathon, we all walked away thrilled with Extreme Video Game Zone! They totally won me over as the premiere mobile gaming event company in NYC.
Given the exceptional quality of tech, stellar variety of games, and super fun customer service – I give them a perfect 5-star rating. Extreme Video Game Zone nails all the fundamentals of an awesome modern gaming experience while also offering cool customizations.
My whole family was floored at how they transformed a plain event room into a jam-packed gaming paradise. Within minutes, Extreme Video Zone had the space looking like the world’s most epic LAN party!
Then keeping 28 hyper, screen-addicted gamers happily playing for hours is no easy feat either. Major props to their staff for running a smooth event and elevating the experience!
Pricewise, their gaming packages are very reasonable, especially factoring in the expensive gear and labor costs. I paid $350 for our 3-hour session, which breaks down to under $30/hour per person in my family. For the nonstop entertainment and memories, that’s a STEAL if you ask me!
My only critique would be that their extensive game library could be better organized. With so many options to choose from, I found myself wasting precious playing time just scrolling through menus. I’d love to see some kind of filtering system implemented by genre, player count, etc, to help easily surface games I’ll actually enjoy. But that’s quite a nitpick given the overall awesomeness of Extreme Video Game Zone!
